Brigadier General Waleed Ziad Denies Houthi Rumors and Reaffirms Commitment to Liberating Sanaa

Brigadier General Waleed Ziad, Chief of Staff of the Second Division of the National Resistance, has categorically dismissed as false reports circulated by the Iran-backed Houthi militia alleging his arrival in the capital, Sanaa.

In a formal statement, Brigadier General Ziad characterized these claims as part of a deliberate disinformation campaign orchestrated by the militia. He reaffirmed the National Resistance’s unwavering adherence to national principles, noting that their departure from Sanaa on December 4, 2017, was a strategic decision. He emphasized that any return to the capital will occur solely through liberation, regardless of the sacrifices required to restore the Yemeni state.

The military official clarified that the repositioning of forces on the West Coast does not signify an end to the confrontation. Instead, he described the move as the commencement of a more intensive phase of military operations, underscoring that the primary strategic objective remains the defeat of the Houthi coup.

Brigadier General Ziad highlighted the significant sacrifices made by the National Resistance over the past three weeks. He stated that the forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Houthi militia, noting that their combat operations now frequently involve direct engagement with operatives linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The statement concluded by addressing the Houthi militia's reliance on ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and explosive-laden boats. Ziad asserted that these tactics represent a desperate attempt to advance an Iranian agenda aimed at seizing control of the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait and threatening international maritime navigation.
