Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights Condemns Houthi Ballistic Missile Attack on Marib

The Yemeni Ministry of Human Rights has condemned a ballistic missile attack launched by Houthi forces that resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to 15 other civilians, including eight children, at a displacement camp in the Raghwan district of Marib governorate.

The ministry reported that the victims, aged five and seven, were killed on Monday evening when the projectile struck a shelter housing families displaced by the ongoing conflict. Officials described the assault as a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the established norms governing the protection of civilians during armed conflicts.

In an official statement, the ministry held the Houthi militia fully accountable for the strike, characterizing it as part of a broader pattern of military escalation targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure across Yemen. The ministry noted that such persistent attacks have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, driving further displacement and increasing civilian casualties.

The Yemeni government has formally requested that the United Nations and international human rights organizations document the incident, initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the attack, and identify those responsible. The ministry emphasized that the pursuit of peace in Yemen remains inextricably linked to the protection of non-combatants and the establishment of genuine accountability for war crimes.
