Houthi Shelling Displaces Hundreds in Al-Hudaydah

Persistent shelling by Houthi militias targeting populated areas in the Al-Hudaydah Governorate has forced 57 families, comprising approximately 400 individuals, to flee their homes to escape escalating military aggression.

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps in Al-Hudaydah reported on Thursday that families were compelled to evacuate villages across the Hays, Al-Jarahi, and Jabal Ras districts. The exodus was driven by widespread panic following sustained artillery strikes, with the displaced seeking refuge in areas including Uways, Al-Qash, Mahwa Al-Abd, Al-Ha'it, Mahal Al-Rabi, Al-Nazali, and Al-Haribah.

This wave of forced displacement has precipitated a severe humanitarian crisis, as families were forced to abandon their homes, livestock, and primary sources of income. The displaced now face critical shortages of basic necessities, including food, clean water, and adequate shelter, leaving them in a highly vulnerable position.

In response to the deteriorating conditions, the Executive Unit issued an urgent appeal for immediate humanitarian intervention. The organization is calling for the provision of essential aid, including emergency shelter, food assistance, cash transfers, and sanitation services to address the immediate needs of those who have been displaced.

The Executive Unit further urged international humanitarian organizations to prioritize the protection of the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities. Officials emphasized the necessity of providing medical and psychological support, while calling for the rapid integration of these newly displaced families into existing aid programs to mitigate the impact of the ongoing conflict.
